Greener homes in America with the Cash for Caulker program

Obama-caulker
The Cash for Caulker program is an initiative by the Obama’s band wagon to build back the economy and making United States of America a greener and a safer place to live in. The bill is passed with votes of 246 – 161 with 12 Republicans in favor of the bill. Though passed, the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act is waiting approval from the Senate.

With the Cash for Caulker program, the government is expected to give out about six billion dollars over a period of two years to the home owners in the country in the form of rebates. All homes in the United States which are energy efficient and undertake a comprehensive home energy audit will receive up to three thousand dollars in the form of rebates and eight thousand dollars in the form of rebates will be given to those homes which increases their energy efficiency by 20%. It is expected that with the program in place and many homes taking part, each home will save up to five hundred dollars every year.

It is a known fact that US has the largest stake in the carbon footprints in the world and it is only with the participation of the people of America, the government can take up actions to reduce the carbon deposits and make the country a more energy efficient and a greener country to live in. So, Cash for Caulker is indeed a great step taken by Obama’s government to make all the homes in the country a Green Home.
